I am delighted to share with you Forks of Ivy, a musical project of Baltimore-based musician Greg Hatem and his collaborator Lindsay Parsons. The band's album is Foxfeel. The above video for the song "Iowa" is by artist Brian Henry.

I in fact had the pleasure of playing mandolin on the recording of their song "Fly Away Home". What I can say about this band is that the music is moody, simple, dark and brooding. But the lyrics are also playful and whimsical. Greg and Lindsay sing really well together and truly make thoughtful pop music. Some of it is bedroom pop, but often, as on "Iowa", the music soars and travels far--a music of owls and eagles or walking along lonely train tracks. It is all very fun and interesting.
