Mr. Moccasin

Baltimore's Mr. Moccasin has a new album coming out January 2013. It is called XAHA. The title is essentially the Cyrillic spelling of Hanna, the name of the lead singer of this rock group. On ten new songs, the band, with Chris Martinelli and Jared Fischer on guitars and Greg Hatem on drums, rallies around Hanna Badalova as a unique, bilingual vocalist and poet. Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, she moved to Baltimore with her family when she was 5. Her stories and visions, sung in Russian or English as moods demand, ride above steady, supportive rhythms, or entangle themselves in foreign and familiar sound meditations and gritty dramas.
Produced by Greg Hatem and recorded at the band's several homes, including the renowned Copy Cat Building, XAHA is the present harvest of Mr. Moccasin's growth, development and survival.
